  • Key West, Florida

Before or after the cruise, don’t miss an opportunity to discover all that Fort Lauderdale, our port of embarkation, has to offer. Venture by airboat into the Everglades – an expanse of swampland known for its natural beauty and abundant wildlife – to get an upclose view of exotic wildlife like birds, fish and the area’s infamous alligators. Experience the highlights of the cruise port city’s newly designed beaches and cafes of the Arts & Sciences District or the Riverwalk, and take in the boutiques, shops and galleries of Las Olas Boulevard. Or board a double-decker yacht or paddlewheeler to journey down the New River and out into the Intracoastal Waterway to Port Everglades, where luxury reigns supreme.

On the private Bahamian island of Half Moon Cay, cruise guests have two miles of sparkling white sand beaches all to themselves for an entire day. Consider indulging in this island oasis from a private, air-conditioned cabana by the sea (butler service optional), or get more adventurous with a watersport, nature hike or deep-sea fishing excursion. Additionally, make unforgettable memories feeding the gentle rays at Stingray Cove, riding a horse into the surf, or visiting Half Moon Lagoon Aqua Park.

Located on the southwestern corner of Grand Cayman Island in the British West Indies, the Cayman Islands’ capital, George Town, resembles a crayon box of shops (look for a piece of colorful Caymanite or black coral), restaurants and history, including the Cayman Islands National Museum and the Maritime Treasure Museum. The city’s harbor offers endless water activities for cruise guests, including snorkeling, scuba diving and glass-bottom boat tours. A short distance north of the city, West Bay’s shallow waters offer swimmers an exhilarating opportunity to touch, feed and even hold the residents of Stingray City. And a mile west of here, Seven Mile Beach represents an emblematic stretch of Caribbean idyll.

Just off the coast of the Mexican mainland, a porous mass of limestone arching out of the water invites cruise guests to savor one of the greatest ocean playgrounds. Along with its ethereal beaches, Cozumel boasts some of world's premier dive and fishing spots. Additionally, and a mere ferry ride away, the Mayan ruins at Tulum showcase centuries of human splendor against the breathtaking background of spectacular sea cliffs and turquoise waters of the Caribbean.

Our final day at sea presents cruise guests with one last opportunity to explore the ship and take advantage of all its enticing offerings. Perhaps you’ll head to the gym for the first time all week, followed by an afternoon of lounging poolside. Or maybe you’ll book some pampering at the stellar Greenhouse Spa and Salon, then treat yourself to a five-star meal at one of the m/s Nieuw Amsterdam’s gourmet dining destinations. Richard Rawlings will also be available throughout the day for Q&A sessions, a book signing, and autograph and photo opps. Fingers crossed, you’ll wrap up this unforgettable day aboard our majestic home-at-sea with a seat next to the motor mastermind at the final VIP Dinner at the Pinnacle Grill that evening … lucky winners to be announced!

Key West is where The Sunshine State makes its last ragged stumble into the celadon waters of the Gulf of Mexico. The water and the climate have been drawing visitors for centuries, from Ponce de Leon to Harry Truman to writers like Ernest Hemingway and Tennessee Williams. Area highlights for cruise visitors include the Ernest Hemingway House (full of many-toed cats), McCoy Indigenous Park (full of rescued marine animals) and numerous local beaches (full of vitamin D). Try Fort Zachary Taylor, South Beach or Higg's Beach.

And, don't forget about the block party on Duval Street. Enjoy the traffic free street with jamming music, car show, great food and meet & greet with Richard Rawlings.
